Stream Clean Review

Does Stream Clean Pet Stain and Odor Remover really live up to all of its claims and hype? Read on and find out:

The Stream Clean is used to remove pet stains and the cleaning process starts with just a squeeze of this bottle. It eliminates odors as well and you don’t need to scrub or brush the stains to remove them. It instantly cleans and deodorizes carpets or any areas in your house.

The Claim:

Stream Clean is a powerful carpet stain and spot remover that contains strong cleaners and degreasers to remove stains due to urine, dirt, ink, grease, oil, mud, ketchup, vomit coffee, tea, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and blood.

The upside down spray valve allows easy application, and the spray concentrates  on spots and stains without heavy overspray. It quickly saturates materials for instant cleaning and leaves no residue, as well as containing no solvents which might damage carpet backings. It contains an odor neutralizer which destroys odors due to urine, vomit and blood through oxidation catalysis, leaving only a pleasant fragrance behind. Just point and stream and your carpets get clean-merely spray and walk away.

My Experience:

First I will say, the product is safe to use around pets and children since it is non-toxic. Its advanced enzymes seem to be the key ingredient and mystery to it's success. It penetrates deep into fabrics eliminating dirt, stains, and locked in odors; while the foam lifts the remaining residue to the surface. After waiting the desired time, cleaning is just a matter of patting down the spot with a cloth until dry.

Now with that being said, this product works pretty effective on fabrics such as carpets, sofas and other furniture cloth based. It also can deodorize and clean pet habitats such as a pet’s home and bedding.

The Good:

  1. Versatility - Stream Clean is not limited to just pet stains and odors but can also work on other difficult stains such as wine, ink, vomit, coffee, blood and other unwanted stains effectively in seconds whether they are new, old or set-in. It does not leave a sticky residue behind unlike other stain removal products purchased in stores.
  2. Ease of Use - Like the infomercial says, the deep enzyme action that is present in cleaner removes the dirt particles pretty effectively on its own, and the nozzle of the can is designed in such a way that there is no need for the user to bend and spray.
  3. Save time & money - Buying expensive products that claim to remove stains, only end up putting a lot of pressure on the person with all the scrubbing, soaking and waiting. And most cases, you're still stuck with the odor left behind and need another product to remove the smell as well.
The Bad: (Well.. not really)

  1. Does require some work - This is more of an personal issue for me being a clean freak, but I cannot feel something is completely clean if I just spray and walk away. So I do suggest at least rubbing or dabbing it with a paper towel when you're done. (Personal preference)
  2. Availability - Stream Clean is currently available online only, and not in stores. So if you are running low, it's not as convenient as running to your local market to pick up more. You have to remember to pre-order online (which isn't a deal breaker, but it's not a positive either.)
  3.  Risks - Be careful buying from other re-sellers like Amazon and Ebay. While Amazon.com is extremely creditable; it's not the real seller for "As Seen On TV" products (in most cases). So while you think you're buying directly from Amazon, good chance it's one of their "3rd party sellers". So the risks of receiving a knock-off or defective product are greatly increased (Not worth it to me). So I purchased from Stream Clean directly, which wasn't so bad because they currently have promotion running. (see bottom of page)

The Verdict:

While I do believe infomercials always tend to exaggerate on products, Stream Clean does a great job living up to the hype. Even with the lack of availability, and still having to do some scrubbing (for my personal conscious), after using Stream Clean for the past month, I couldn't really ask for more in a product and it will be one of my "go-to" items in the future.
